Tell me bout the rabbits George!
Candy's dog gets shot by Carlson. Carlson convinced Candy to let him shoot the dog because the dog was old and was no good for itself anymore. The death of Candy's dog foreshadows Lennie's death because Lennie is the dog and George is Carlson. Cand and his dog are foils for George and Lennie. The message sent is friends should look after each other. Friends should always have their best interest for you even if it's harsh and hard to do.
Lennie kills Curly's wife. Curly's wife was letting Lennie feel her SOFT hair and Curly's wife wanted him to stop so she raised her tone and voice and scared Lennie. Lennie picked her up and started swinging her till her neck broke because Lennie was frightened. This is the climax of the story and this is also showing the undoing of the dream Lennie and george created. The more bad decisions we make the more our dreams will fail.
George shoots Lennie. He shot Lennie to save him from being tortured by Curly and the men. It was hard for George. The death of Lennie symbolizes the death of the dream they created because Lennie was the one that was pushing George to pursue the dream. the theme of the chapter and the book is the best laid out plans of mice of men "often go awry". Meaning that every dream that's created often fail or can't be carried out due to bad actions.
