  • 1828- Tariff of Abomination
  • Protective Tarrif
  • 1828- Jackson 1st election

  • John Quincy Adams used his fathers reputation to get into the white house causing Andrew Jackson to say that he had made a corrupt bargain
  • 1828- South Carolina Nullification

  • The government passed a huge protective tax which the South hated
  • 1832- Worcester vs. Georgia
  • Andrew Jackson ran for the second time and won . His critics said he made a spoils system giving powerful government jobs to supporters even if they didn't deserve it
  • 1836- Trail of Tears
  • South carolina believed they could nullify Federal laws and Andrew Jackson did not agree with them. Eventually they compromised with lowering the tax after 10 eyes
  • Worcester was a white missionary who lived with natives illegally and the supreme court ruled that georgia could not interfere with the Cherokee
  • Andrew Jackson forced 16000 Native Americans from Georgia to Oklahoma. 4000 of them died.
