" Yes, it was this! One of the eyes resembled that of a vulture- a pale blue eye, with a film over it. Whenever it fell upon me, my blood ran cold, so I made up my mind to take the life of the old man and, thus rid myself of the eye for ever."
"I loved the old man! He had never wronged me. I think it was his eye!
"I was never kinder to the old man during the whole week before I killed him"
"And I did this for seven long nights-but I found the eye alwaysclosed"
It all started due to the man's (narrator) fear of another man's eye. The Narrator greatly feared the old man's old, cloudy eye. So he decided to get rid of it forever.
The Narrator helped the man for several days before he killed him. He made him feel very good before his final death
"First of all, I dismembered the corpse. I cut off the head, arms, and legs."
The narrator snuck in every night to kill him but the old man's eye was never open so he could not do the work.
"dissemble no more! I admit to the deed!"
But on the eighth night, the man lost grip of the lantern and woke the old man up and he yelled who's there? He then found the eye wide open. So the man jumped out with a loud yell and pulled a heavy bed onto the old man.
Now the man chops up the old mans body and hides it.
Then the next day police officers came and at first the man was calm and then he began to hear the beat of the old man's heart in his head, so he confessed to killing the old man.
