In the 1700s and 1800s the Europeans were interested in the spice trade they wanted sugar coffee and tea from Asia.
The industrial revolution increased the needs of raw materials. The Europeans began to set up trading post and pushed china away to gain control over them. Every country was claimed by the Europeans.
Europe used its military victories and naval superiority to keep beyond china, they also set up trade post with them to push them back. They tried to use a belief system and it failed poorly for them.
The people of Europe thought of the Chinese as there members of there empire, they were used as the center of the trade marketing in the early history.
The Chinese had very difficult and rough lives, they were only provided a certain amount of food per each day and they were limited. They served in the military for Europeans to build canals palaces and city walls. They also had to work in farms. Only the wealthy kids went to school and people who live in the city had variates of different jobs.
The Europeans wanted access into china because they lots of raw materials such as iron gold diamonds coal and gas. There goal was to take over Asia for there goods and increase the size of there land.
The good things that happened for European was they increased the size of there land and made trades with the Chinese and got raw materials so that they good enhance there supplies and make they military more powerful.
