Las Orejas De Conejo
Once, a thousand years ago, the rabbit had small ears. The rabbit was happy with his small ears but not the size of his small body. One day, the rabbit saw the big lion and began to mourn bitterly under a tree. The owl that lived in the tree asked why he was crying, and he the bunny replied how he wanted to be big.
The owl told him to visit the god of the animal because he could make him bigger. The rabbit then went to see the god of the animal and told him why he wanted to be big. The god said the rabbit needed to bring him the skin of a crocodile, monkey, and snake by tomorrow before he would make him big.
The rabbit agreed and went off to talk to his friend the crocodile. He asked the crocodile to lend him the skin until tomorrow. But before he could finish, the crocodile asked if it was for a party. The rabbit replied yes and the crocodile gave him his skin. The rabbit visited the monkey and snake and they gave him their skins also.
Early the next morning, the rabbit slowly came before the god with the skins. The god was surprised and agreed to make him bigger, but only his ears. If he made his body bigger, he may hurt the other animals unwillingly. But with his big ears, he could hear better and that is useful when his enemies are near.
The God touched the small rabbit ears and as if by magic got bigger. The rabbit thanked the gid and was very happy. The next day the owl complimented the rabbit on his big ears, and the lion agreed. From that day the rabbit lived very happily with his small body and big ears.
