  • Madame! We have been invited to a ball with many influential people!
  • Rising Action
  • I'd like to purchase this marvelous burgundy dress! I have 400 francs to buy it with.
  • May I borrow a necklace? I'm afraid I haven't got one.
  • Rising Action
  • Of course, dear! Please, choose whatever you'd like.
  • Madame Loisle is told that they have been invited to a ball. She is excited but worried because she doesn't have a dress to wear.
  • Climax
  • We have lost a diamond necklace and need to replace it. Here is 36 thousands francs for a new one. Thank you.
  • Madame Loisle goes to the store to buy a new dress that her husband allowed her purchase, which was 400 francs.
  • Falling Action
  • Madame Loisle asked her friend to borrow some jewelry becauase she couldn't afford her own and didn't own any of her own. It is a Diamond necklace. She then lost it at the party.
  • Resolution
  • The climax is when Madame Loisle's husband has to pay the 36k francs for a new necklace, something that they would be paying off the rest of their life.
  • Of course, here sir.
  • Madame Loisle and her friend meet eachother 10 years after the purchase. They talk about how old Madame Loisle has gotten. They start talking about the necklace.
  • They talk about how Madame Loisle loses her necklace. She says she spent 36k francs to buy it, and her friends says that it was fake and only cost at most, 500 francs.
  • I lost that necklace of yours, and I paid 36k francs to replace it... I've been working the past 10 years to pay it off.
  • That necklace was fake, it was worth 500 francs at most..
