In 1982, NASA publicly released the Forestry Vehicle.
The Forestry Vehicle was originally planned to roam the lunar surface and collect data. It's suspension has been critiqued so at all times it will have all four wheels on the ground.
The Forestry vehicle is now used for logging, planting, pumping water, building trails and other operations.
The "self-propelled forestry power pack" was developed by Professor John Miles and his associates.
They were apart of the Agricultural Engineering Department of the University of California, Davis (UCD), working in cooperation with the California Department of Forestry
The UCD group is now working on a more advanced Power Pack III.
