  • The hellish tattoo of the heart increased . It grew quicker and quicker, and louder and louder.
  • he is stone dead. His eye would trouble me no more.
  • This is when the narrator tried to kill the old man's eye, but his eye was closed.
  • the narrator tried to destroy the eye once and for all, but the heart rate of the old man increased and made him nervous and scared .
  • A shriek had been heard by a neighbor during the night.
  • The narrator could not stand the beating of the old man's heart, so he smothered him to death with a bed.
  • Villians! dissemble no more! I admit the deed! tear up the planks! here, here! it is the beating of his hideous heart!
  • The narrator disposed of the old man's body in the bathtub so he can dismember him and the blood will go down the drain.
  • Police officers go to his house because neighbors reported a loud shriek coming from his house and go to search his house
  • The narrator could not handle the stress of killing someone, so he revealed himself to the police officers to be the killer of the old man.
