  • Niccolo Machiavelli served as a diplomat and important Italian Renaissance writer. He published multiple books throughout his time. Two of his most famous works are "The Prince" and "Discourses on Livy." Machiavelli stressed the many ways to act out when being a leader.

  • "My book called The Prince is a work of humanism. This book is a guide to rulers on how to gain and maintain power. "The Prince" explains the reality of a leader and guides you on how to be a successful/respectable leader.

  • During the Italian Renaissance, many humanists emerged. Humanists based their studies on classical culture and focused on worldly subjects rather than religious issues. Machiavelli is a humanist. He connected his own experiences as a diplomat and wrote them in a form of literature, to educate the rest of the people of the worldly subjects.

  • During the Renaissance, Michelangelo was a painter, engineer, sculptor, architect, and poet. One of his most famous projects was painting an entire mural on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.  He also designed the dome of St. Peters Cathedral in Rome.

  • "My architectural design for St. Peters Cathedral represents humanism. It was an innovative style and was still used hundreds of years after me. The United States Capitol building uses my technique for their structure." 
  • Although many of Michelangelo's works are based on biblical scenes and backgrounds, he is still a humanist. His sculpting and painting techniques influenced many people throughout the time of the Renaissance. He diversified the skillset of many aspiring artists in Italy.
