  • Act one- Mr. Putnam is trying to prove the land is his.
  • He had no right to sell it. It stands clear in my grandfather's will that all the land between the river and-
  • Greed in The Crucible show how destructive it can be to only have people look after their own interests.
  • Act one- Paris is trying to deny he saw the girls dance.
  • Abigail lies for the better part of the play in order to get Proctor. This is leads only to her having to leave or face the punishment for lying and killing 30 people.
  • Act one- Proctor is trying to get Abigail to leave him alone after sleeping with her.

  • The Putnams in order to get more land helped Abigail accuse Elizabeth of witch craft. They knew that this would cost her her life but did it any way.
  • Paris knew that the girls had danced in the woods but kept quite to keep his own name clean, while people where killed.

  • John Proctor in the past was greedy and decided that the love of his marriage wasn't enough. He went and slept with the maid.
