"I have entered high school with the wrong hair, the wrong clothes, the wrong attitude."(Pg.1)
Welcome to art
My new hide out!!
The first day of school was an important introduction into Melinda’s life. It makes us aware that she is a freshman that is starting school without a positive attitude and anyone to call her friend. The start of her school day was pretty uneventful. She went to an assembly in the auditorium and met Heather from Ohio, Heather was someone she had to talk to which was good enough for Melinda.
I wish I could escape
Melinda went to Art class for the first time and here is where she felt comfortable. She thought that Mr.Freeman was a little weird, but for the most part she enjoyed being there. An old friend, Ivy, is in the same class and Melinda wishes that Ivy would look over at her and just acknowledge her, but she doesn't. By the end of art class Melinda has been assigned tree as her artistic focus for the year.
What does she see in him?
A couple days into school Melinda was wandering around school and found a janitor's closet. She had an idea to clean it up and use it as a place to hide out during the school day. Melinda bought cleaning supplies from home to make the closet for comfortable. She used the closet as a safe haven to avoid the world for the rest of the year.
I SAID NO!!
Melinda was at home after going to a basketball game and couldn't go to sleep. Since she couldn't sleep she went to her window and started to describe what happened to her on the night she was assaulted by Andy evans. She explained that she was drunk and Andy took advantage of her. When she came too, she called the police and got the party shut down. What happened this night ruined Melinda.
The moment Melinda found at that Rachel, her ex-best friend, and the person that assaulted her were dating she didn't take the information very well. After she found this out she took it upon herself to let Rachel know that Andy was the person that raped her. However, Rachel didn't believe Melinda at all and she ended up telling Andy that Melinda was spreading a "rumor".
One day Melinda realized that hiding in the janitors closet wasn't doing her any good she began packing her things so she could leave. Before she could leave the room Andy forced her into the room and tried to rape her again. Andy was not successful with this attempt due to the fact that Melinda fought back and showed him that he couldn't torment her anymore! From this point Melinda got better.
