  • Okay!
  • So son, by understanding the emotional, cultural, and social setting, Riel was arguably doing what was right. He was fighting for the land of his ancestors and trying to maintain the traditional Metis way of life. His intention was for peaceful negotiations, never violence.
  • What else happened as a result of his fighting? What else!?
  • Well he influenced many citizens voting decisions. Many communities were upset about Riel being tried and hung for high treason.
  • What else happened as a result of his fighting? What else!?
  • French Canadian Nationalism became even more popular after his execution, because French Canadians were able to recognize that they too are a minority in the country.
  • And as minorities, its important to stick together and fight to avoid assimilation of culture.
  • So the French imagined what it would be like to be in the Metis place?
