Madame Loisel and her husband, Mister Loisel, weren’t the richest or the poorest, but one day Mister Loisel comes home from work with an invitation from his job to have their presence at a palace for the Ministry. Madame Loisel was devastated because she had nothing nice to wear.
After Mister Loisel had given her francs for her dress and suggested she borrowed jewlery from her very good friend, Madame Forestier, they went to the palace and everyone noticed how nice Madame Loisel looked. The necklace she borrowed was the most beautiful thing Madame Loisel had ever seen.
When they got home from the palace, Madame Loisel notice she had lost the diamond necklace. They looked everywhere and had lost all hope. Madame Loisel and Mister Loisel ended buying a replacement for 40,000 francs, using alll their money they had. They spent 10 years paying back the debt and in the end she finally conffronted Madame Forestier about the truth and she ended up telling Madame Loisel that the necklace was fake.
