  • Many things happened to lead reserve on reconstruction. Education, freedmen had pinned on a better life and education which provided south with first public schools.Southerner democrats got control over states but then cut spending on education. They also reversed political gains made by freedmen after war. There was a poll tax on voting that was set high enough for blacks wouldn't be able to pay it, so there for blacks wouldn't be able vote.
