Barbara Ledermann was a very amazing girl. She was Jewish and German, and her parents were very successful lawyers.
Barbara I am going to work. See you later!
When Barbara was seven years old, the II world war broke out. The Nazi's forced her parents to quit their jobs and they became poor. They also had to sell their house. Later that year, her family moved to the Netherlands.
It's ok Barbara. Everything will be ok.
In 1940 the Nazi's invaded the Netherlands. All of Barbara's friends were deported to concentration camps. A Christian came into Barbara's home and gave her a fake ID, and told her that she would have to move in with her.
Come with me! we will be safe
During the war, Barbara's parents were deported to a concentration camp. They both died there.

Barbara spent the rest of the war living with this lady. The Nazi's never caught her because every time they came to her house to check if there were any Jews, they always showed them the fake Christian ID.
Ok, I better go then.
Do any Jews live here?
No no, we are all Christian.
When the war was over, in 1947 Barbara moved to the USA and got married.
Do you, Barbara, take Manfred to be your waffley wedded husband?
