Storyboard Text

  • Social capital is the resources accessed by individuals and groups within octal structure that facilitate cooperation, collective action, and the maintenance of norms.
  • Social capital has indicators of high or low interpersonal trust, reciprocal exchanges between citizens, and membership in civic organizations.
  • Social connections are a great way to reduce stress. The feeling of belonging, within a community, helps individuals reduce their stress levels. Stress has a large negative impact on the health of an individual.
  • The stress levels of a society can be linked by the type of advantages and disadvantages a society presents. It has been proven that the societies shape patterns of disease over time.
  • It is important that, as a society, we continue to communicate and discuss the health problems we all face. We all want a high social capital, so we can create a society with better health. This can only be done by maintaining a culture that consists of people helping and communicating with everyone
  • I was surprised to see that social capital can actually affect the stress levels of a community. I now that people need to belong to a community because we are naturally social creatures.
