I should've left the treasure pit alone and went down to the river. Alas, I went down the wrong path of life.
The theme of "A Road Not Taken" is missed opportunities in life. The line, "I took the one less traveled by" (Frost, 19) shows how he took a less popular life path, and the line. "I shall be telling this with a sigh" (Frost, 16) shows that this was maybe a life choice he regretted, and somewhat wishes he could go back to make that different choice. This relates to how the choices you make as a teenager will effect your life forever, depending on how well you do in school, depending on how you treat your body, and far more.
