  • Beatrice, in conversation with Antonio, Hero, and Leonato, comes to the conclusion that there is no man fit for her after comparing Don John and Benedick.
  • "No, uncle, I'll none: Adam's sons are my brethren; and, truly, I hold it a sin to match in my kindred" (
  • Disguised, Don Pedro woos Hero for Claudio. Benedick is also disguised and is with Beatrice. Unaware she is talking with him, Beatrice talks poorly of Benedick. Meanwhile, Don John and Borachio are trying to jeporadize Don Pedro's cover with Hero.
  • "Why, he is the prince's jester: a very dull fool" (
  • "I am yours for the walk" (
  • Good news is announced: Hero and Claudio are getting married, as Don Pedro states. Although, some other news is kept in secret: Don John wants to get Beatrice and Benedick together.
