the first most important moment from the book is when the tall solider brings news that he thinks the army is going to March, this provokes the main character into thinking about if he will run or stay and fight when the battle starts.

a confederate charge and The next most important moment is when the main character flees from a confederate charge and runs behind friendly lines.
the third most important part is when the main character walks with the wounded and end up seeing the tall solider die, and another solider go crazy. Before the other solider goes crazy he asked questions that made him feel shame for deserting. Eneugh shame to envy the dead.
The fourth most important moment is when the main character takes the flag from the fallen flag bearer and encouges the men during a charge
The last most important moment is when the main character looks back on the battle and sees how far he has come, and sees that he has become brave.
