Look! I brought some of my dads beer and my mums wine!
Look! It's john and Susan. They have come by to invite you to the river for a catch up.
We could drown ourselves in the river accidentally.
We could feel sick because our body is not strong enough to handle alcohol.
If we get drunk, we could fall unconscious and no one would know.
They might get lost if they venture too far and forget the way back.
You, john and Susan arrive at the river.
Option 1 - I drink the alcohol.
Positive: Respect, You drink the alcohol and your friends think you are more cool now. Also they will probably tell other people you were "mature", "strong", and "cool" enough to drink such substances.
Negative: Loss of popularity - by not drinking you may be excluded by your friends because they think you aren't "cool" enough. You also may be called names like "wimp" or "wuss". This is also a form of verbal bullying with name calling and embarrassment and may lead to loss of self asteem and confidence or even self harm.
Positive: Stay sober and healthy - you will remain alert and in control, all choices you make will be made by you and not the alcohol.
Option 2 - Don't drink the alcohol.
Uh oh! Susan has brought alcoholic drinks with her that you and john didn't know about. She and john proceed to consume the alcoholic bevrages and you feel extreme pressure to drink with them.
Im going to choose option 2, the safe option, im underage and am not allowed to legally drink yet, i am going to do what i know is right even if my friends bully me for it because im making the right choice and they cant change my mind.
You weigh the circumstances of your scenario.
You now have thought up 2 options.
Negative: side affects, drinking alcohol underage can cause dizziness, slurred speech, loss of balance, loss of coordination, hallucination and nausea.
You decide that its not worth it to risk your life for a bit of alcohol, instead you choose that you'd rather wait a few years until you are legally allowed.
