  • Food is a source of large molecules that are needed for life called biomolecules
  • There are four major biomolecules that make up all of life 
  • One of the four biomolecules are called carbohydrates or carbs
  • Carbohydrates is a really important source of energy and cold help you a lot when your running and doing exercise
  • The monomer for a carb is called a monosaccharide and they create carbohydrates 
  • It produces fat and stores energy for a long time
  • They have two major parts and those are fatty acid and glycerol
  • The next biomolecule is lipids or fats
  • Another biomolecule is protein 
  •  Proteins help with muscle development, the immune system, and enzymes 
  • The monomers of protein are amino acids
  •  The last big biomolecule is known as a nucleic acid and it contains DNA and RNA
  • They have a monomer called a nucleotide 
  • They give you DNA and RNA to let us move and function
