We had a very happy childhood. I had a beautiful upbringing with lots of family and laughter. There were fun vacations and a house full of music.
The teen years brought struggles with migraines and chronic pain. This continued throughout my twenties with many surgeries, depression, and the beginning of a long battle with addiction.
Later into my twenties me and my family were faced with grief like we had never experienced before. My grandparents passed with in days of each other unexpectedly.
Eventually the disease of addiction took me down a path of mental, physical, and most of all spiritual desolation.
There came a time when I had to decide to either do something about my problem or die. I went to treatment ,a recovery house, and am now in recovery.
It has been a few years now and there is still physical pain, and life still shows up. The beautiful thing now is that I can have peace in all struggles. I couldn't have done that without recovery. God is good.
