(Travis) - This is the morning we supposed to bring the fifty cents to school.
(Ruth) - Well, I ain't got no fifty cents this morning.
(Walter) - I'm a grown man, Mama.
(Mama) - Ain't nobody said you wasn't grown. But you still in my house and my presence. And as long as you are - you'll talk to your wife civil. Now sit down.
(Ruth) - I want to support Walter in his dreams, but I also want a new house.... Maybe I should get an abortion so that I don't increase the financial strain.
This is an external conflict between Travis and Ruth. Travis does not understand that his family is poor and that they can't give him money for school because they need it for more important things.
This is an internal conflict between Walter and himself. He is trying to get out the house and find peace. Mama is asking him why he cannot find peace in the house and he is saying it is to stressful for him and he feels he can't achieve his goals.
This is an internal conflict between Ruth and herself. She doesnt know if she should keep her unborn child or have an abortion. This is because Ruth belives her family isn't financially stable to take care of a baby. Also Ruth and Walter aren't on good tearms so she is stressed out and thinks having an abortion well be the best thing for her family.
