Africa-Eastern City States
This storyboard does not have a description.
Hello! I am a villager from the East African City State of Malindi. Tomorrow I have to travel South to meet a friend, while trading along the way.
Before I go, I need to make sure I have items to trade. Here in Malindi, agricultural products like coconuts and oranges are a major export.
My first stop is 120 Km south, to the city of Mombasa. Here, I'm trading the fruits for Ivory, which is a popular export of Mombasa.
Next, I'm stopping at Zanzibar, a small island off the coast. Here, I'm trading for spices like clove and nutmeg.
My third stop is in Kilwa. I've run into the famous Moroccan trader, Ibn Battuta, who showed me how to get the best deal on Porcelain from China and cloth from India, as it comes in through Kilwa.
Finally, I have met my friend in Mozambique. At this major port city, we can trade some of the goods I've gathered and fund our journey home.
