  • Greetings! I am Dr. John Holland, and I am a contributor of Career Development.
  • What is Holland's System?
  • My system consist of six different personalities, along with its own meanings:
  • Realism, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Entrepreneurial, and Conventional (RIASEC).
  • My RIASEC Code
  • Hello Dr. Holland, yes, I found my Riasec Code: ERI
  • Hi Jamyra, have you found your RIASEC Code?
  •       Dr. John Holland is known for writing an article entitled "A Theory of Vocational Choice". Holland created a system where individuals can enter a work-force that encourages them to "...exercise their skills and abilities, express their attitudes and values, and take on agreeable problems and roles" (p. 4)
  • Enterprise: Someone who is persuading, and they value leadership and business.
  • REALISTIC: Practical, physical, hands-on, and tool-oriented. INVESTIGATIVE:Thinkers, analytic, intellectual, and exploratory ARTISTIC: Creative, original, independent, and chaotic. • Career
  • Yes, I thought about skilled trade jobs: 1) Electrician or 2) Carpentry.
  • Do you have a few career choices in mind?
  •      I enjoyed taking the RIASEC Code survey. After the survey, I received my top three personality traits , and in all three of the top categories, I could visualize myself doing something that would exercise those personality traits.
  • What is the salary and future outlook?
  • Realistic: Someone who likes to work with tools, or they enjoy working with hands.
  • Enterprising: Individuals who are interested in enterprising usually work with people. They focus their goals on selling and achieving.  Realistic: Ones that are fascinated in this area work with tools and prefer physical or mechanical work. Skilled trades, construction etc. fall into realism. Investigative: Individuals work with ideas, data, and scientific technical work.
  •  Investigative: They're curious, intellectual and independent. Enjoy abstract thinking, research, or analysis.
  • Describe your Dominant and two recessive traits, please.
  •    Most electricians learn by apprenticeship. However, it is profound to attend a technical school, and  own a license before meddling with power. By attending classes and learning on-the-job, electricians build a respect for electricity and its power, and they learn to value the importance of protective gear.
  • Electricians work inside and outside to install and/or repair power in homes or businesses.
  • An electrician makes about $26.00 per hour. The employment in 2016 was 666,900. In ten years (2026), the employment will increase by 9% with 726,500 openings.
  • The average salary is $26.00 per hour with a 9% increase over 10 years.
