Storyboard Text

  • Today I will be teaching you about Pythagorean Theorem
  • The main idea of the Pythagorean Theorem is that when you square your two legs together that it'll be equal to your hypotenuse squared.
  • Legs
  • A
  • B
  • C
  • Hypotenuse (longest side)
  • The formula for finding the Pythagorean Theorem is "a squared" plus "b squared"= "c squared". A, B & C are NOT angles, they are the lengths of the side of an triangle.
  • 6 cm
  • "a squared" +"b squared"="c squared" "6 squared" + "8 squared"="c squared"
  • 8 cm
  • C
  • If you are trying to find C "hypotenuse" (longest side) the first thing you need to do is plug in A & B into the formula.
  • Second, multiply A & B by itself but leave C alone, then add A & B together.
  • "6 squared"+"8 squared"="c squared" 36 + 64 ="c squared" 100 = "c squared"
  • After, square root "c squared" & the total of A & B. Then you should get C "hypotenuse" by itself.
  • 6 cm
  • 8 cm
  • C = 10
  • 100 = "c squared" √100 = √"c squared" 10 = C
