Storyboard Text

  • Shortly after being scolded for being so monogamous, Lenina sets out to heed the advice of her friend Fanny and accept Bernard’s previous offer. However, Lenina’s choice to comply with the societal norms of promiscuity and transparency in relationships makes Bernard uncomfortable.
  • Lenina remarks that khaki is a “hideous colour,” and does so unprovoked and simply at the sight of Deltas, demonstrating how deeply ingrained the societal prejudices are in each of the individuals within the World Order.
  • In this scene, Bernard is forced to come in contact with lower castes, and when he orders his plane to be rolled out onto the roof, the workers are slow to react. The scene demonstrates how his physical shortcomings impact his mental state, both making him feel insecure about his status in society and causing him to be an outsider in society.
