Riding in Cars With Boys By: Beverly Donofrio
"Dear Mom and Pop, I have terrible news I've been withholding from you. But, like poison from an adder's tongue...I have to spit it out. I am pregnant." pg. 34
She married the father, Raymond, and could no longer attend school, as she was an expecting mother.
"Dear Beverly, I regret to inform you that I am a junkie. I spent all our money on heroin. I spent everything. I even spent the money for Jason's aspirin on a fix. It was just a tiny fix. But I spent that too." pg 133
Raymond struggled with drugs and could't keep a job, which ultimately lead to their divorce.
After having her child, Beverly was able to finish school and fulfill her dream of writting a book.
