Tecumseh was born in 1768 in Old Piqua, Ohio. He had a brother named Cheeseekau.
His mother, Methoataske, left him when he was only seven years old. She left to accompany part of the tribe to Missouri when the British started to take over America and pushed out the Native Americans.
Two of His Wars
His father Puckeshinwa was killed in 1774, he was killed at the Battle of Point Pleasant.
He saw his brother Cheeseekau killed in an unsuccessful raid near Nashville, Tennessee, in September 1792.
When William Henry Harrison invaded Upper Canada, Tecumseh reluctantly accompanied the British retreat. He helped the British fight to defied Detroit in 1812. It was called The War of 1812.
He died October 5, 1813, near Thames River, Upper Canada. People still remember him for his faith in his Shawnee tribe and his courage.
