  • I have the money and fame and now all I need is my Golden Girl. 
  • Gatsby's life is a battle with himself for Daisy's affection.  Gatsby has spent a good part of his life trying to get Daisy to notice him and attain his American Dream. This is shown through Gatsby having all of these extravagant parties just to try and impress Daisy.
  • Daisy battles between two men. She has always had a connection with Gatsby but she could truly have the American Dream of the name and money with Tom. 
  • Gatsby has always had this American Dream of the perfect wife with Daisy, the fortune, and his roll in society.  The yacht is a symbol of the American Dream Gatsby has always wanted.  Gatsby has conflict with society because he has to go against all odds to attain his American Dream.
