Virtual Learning Activity 1: Newton's First Law

Storyboard Text

  • No, sweetie. That won't happen unless a greater force acts on it.
  • Mommy, I don't want to go up there! What if the rocks fall on me
  • You see, these rocks are an example of Newton's First Law.
  • Newton's First : An object in motion will stay in motion, until acted upon by an outside force, and the same goes for an object at rest.
  • Wow! What else can be an example?
  • And if I take one off, then my hand will be an outside force!
  • Well, the books in the books case are perfect examples! Look at how they aren't moving.
  • You know what else is a great example?...... The clothes on your floor!
  • Oh wow, great example.
  • How about you try to find an example in your school?
  • And I can be the force that acts on them!
  • Well, the chairs and desks aren't moving on the ground....
  • So, can you tell me what you learned today?
  • I learned that because of Newton's First Law, those rocks won't be moving anytime soon!
