Storyboard Text

  • The Cask of Amontillado
  • This is an example of Dramatic irony( this type of irony is when the reader knows what is going on or what is happening, but the characters have no clue of what is going on). The passage indicated how Montresor and Fortunato were enjoying their wine( Fortunato loves Amontillado wine). Montresor encouraged him to drink more because he wants Fortunato to be drunk. It is alsodramatic because if he is drunk he will become weak once it is time for Montresor to kill him. We know the devilish plan of Montresor. However, Fortunato has no idea of what he is destined too.
  • "How? Amontillado? A pipe? Impossible! And in the middle of the carnival!"
  • "But I have revived a pipe of what passes for Amontillado, and I have my doubts."
  • The Cask of Amontillado
  • They are leaving the carnival, so that Motresor can led him to the cave.
  • The Cask of Amontillado
  • This scene is when they are entering the cave.
  • The Cask of Amontillado
  • "I drink to the buried that respose around us"
  • "And I to your long life."
  • The Cask of Amontillado
  • "Fortunato", I called again,"Fortunato".
  • The Cask of Amontillado
  • Verbal Irony: This is when a character says one thing, but really they mean the opposite. In this scene, Fortunato states that he loves wine. Montresor responds by saying "And I to your long life", but really he knows that he is going to kill Fortunato. It is also dramatic because we know that this menas that he is going to kill Fortunato.
  • Situational Irony:  This occurs when what actually happens is the opposite of what is expected or appropriate. In this scene, Montresor is calling Fortunato's name to see if he is still alive before he leaves the cave to go into his house.. Fortunato' s name means fortunate, but so far he is not as fortunate cause he is dead.  This is also verbal because he is calling his name although he knows that he is dead, so he is somewhat making fun of him.
  • This is Montresor leaving the cave, and satisfied with him plan.
