In this event; Equality is writing about the world of Anthem. He writes near the very beginning, "What punishment awaits us if it be discovered we know not..."(Rand 17)
The council of vocations decides whom does what, forever. Equality has his fate decided when he recalls, " We felt the cords of our neck grow tight as our head rose higher..."(Rand 26)
Equality has feelings for a girl; something not allowed in this society, he shows to the reader how he feels about her when he remembered,"...as we came to the northern road, we kept our eyes upon Liberty 5-3000 in the field"(Rand 39)
Our dearest one
There was a time before the society in Anthem existed, there are two groups fighting, the "evil ones", the few, and the majority. Equality is telling the story of the event, and states,"These few were the evil ones, and they were conquered"Rand 48)
Equality has discovered a new power; though it is impressive, the real achievement is what he found in his self. He was he had shown his new self worth when he observes, "No single one can posses greater wisdom than the many scholars who are elected by all men for their wisdom. Yet we can" (Rand 54)
The relationship between the Golden one and her "Unconquered" is becoming more serious and their feelings grow stronger for each other. He even said, "Our dearest one"(Rand 56), which no one must say to another.
