Thutmose III was born on 1504 B.C.E.
Thutmose III succeeded to the throne after his father died, but for the first 20 years of his reign, he shared power with his aunt.
Thutmose III battled to reestablish Egyptian rule of Syria and Palestine, creating Egypt’s largest dynasty yet.
Thutmose III was a prolific builder. Egyptian writings record that he had over fifty temples built throughout Egypt.
He made many additions to the Temple of Karnak at Thebes including new pylons and several towering obelisks.
Thutmose appointed his son Amenhotep II as coregent. Thutmose III died on 1426 B.C.E.
