  • The day of the big test, and, uncharacteristically, Paulina is not ready.
  • The time limit is 45 minutes, and Paulina doesn't even know where to begin.
  • When the time's up and Paulina has to stop, she gets very upset. Her teacher, Mr. Ross, uses non-verbal techniques to show he is not against her.

  • He asks Paulina to talk about the situation out in the hall, so as not to distract other students.
  • They agree that Paulina will get the chance to take another, more challenging test on another day.
  • By staying calm and helping Paulina to calm down as well, Mr. Ross got Paulina refocused on learning.
