  • Today 's Topic Inverse Functions
  • We + - x / in Mr. Lopez's Class!
  • Good Morning, Welcome back class from spring break. Today's lesson is on the board.
  • Function- a relationship or expression involving one or more variables. For every input their is an output. Ex. -2x-1, or 2√(x+50)
  • We + - x / in Mr. Lopez's Class!
  • Just a quick recap from were we left off from break.
  • An inverse function is a function that undoes the action of another function. Start the inversion process by renaming f(x) as "y" find the inversion then write the resulting "y" as "f–1(x)=" whatever the inversion is.
  • We + - x / in Mr. Lopez's Class!
  • Copy down the definition on the board and the note at the bottom.
  • Ex. y=3x-5 Steps: 1. Switch x and y in the equation. 2. Get y alone on one side of the equation. 3.Write the inverse function.

  • Now class its pretty simple to do inverse functions. Write down the steps on the board then I will show you how to do the inverse of the function.
  • Step 1. x=3y-5 step 2a: x+5=3y step 2b:(x+5/3)=y Step3: F-1(x)=(x+5/3)
  • We + - x / in Mr. Lopez's Class!
  • Class all your doing is the reverse operation to x. Or y when you switch it.
  • Pauline: Mr. Lopez the answer is f-1(x)=(4x-60)/3
  • y=3/4x+15
  • We + - x / in Mr. Lopez's Class!
  • Now find the inve........
