Storyboard Description

"A Rose for Emily" is a short story that uses flashbacks to further immerse the reader into the tragedy that is Miss Emily's life. This story addresses many dark themes such as isolation, mystery, curiosity, and loneliness. Through such flashbacks, a reader can infer the cause as to how Emily's life gradually wilted. As a young woman, Emily's father held her upon such a high pedestal that no man could be acceptable for her time and grace. Because of such isolationism, Emily grew old without experiencing the happiness that would've changed her life and steered her from the foreseen tragic fate. Emily's happiness soured and decayed as she lost her father and could not cope with his passing. Eventually things began to look up due to her new found happiness with Homer Barron. But with the discovery that Homer was gay, Emily's pass caused her to take a drastic risk to ensure that the only other man she loved in her life wouldn't leave her. As Miss Emily dies all of the secrets she had kept cooped in the house were set free. In the end this story showed that Miss Emily couldn't cope with the many tragic events that took place throughout her life and that she would do anything not to be alone.
