In Chapter 8, Scout and Jem were having a normal day inside playing with their toys. The temperature dropped which was unusual in Maycomb. All of a sudden white snowflakes began falling from the sky. Scout was in shock. She thought the world was going to end, for she had never seen snow before.
In chapter 8, Jem explained snow to Scout as she then wanted to go play in it. Jem had the idea to build a snowman although Atticus told them there wasn't enough snow. The kids went over to Miss Maudie's with the idea to take her snow too. Miss Maudie was overjoyed for she despised the snow because it would ruin her flower patch. Jem and Scout grabbed their tools and took as much snow as they could.
In chapter 8, Jem and Scout had collected as much snow as they could with the intentions to build a snowman. Unfortunately they only had enough snow to cover the outside of their snowman. Luckily they had the idea to make their snowman out of dirt and cover the outside with the snow. Spending time together they completed their snowman and proved Atticus wrong. It was a successful day that Scout finally learned what snow was.
