That island is thought to be home to cannibals...
That's pure imagination.
There is only one animal with reason, one worth the hunt.
I hunt a different type of animal, you see.
What do you mean?
Rainsford set off in a boat for an island far off the coast, rumoured to be home to cannibals. He wanted to hunt for Jaguars.
If I do not find you by midnight of the third night, you win. If I find you before then, you lose. The winner will sleep on the most comfortable bed.
And the loser?
Late at night, Rainsford went to smoke from his pipe, he was leaning against the boat's rail when he heard gunshots in the distance, he dropped his pipe over the rail and when he went to he realised he had leant too far. He landed in the water with a splash and swam in the direction of the gunshots.
When Rainsford arrived at the island which he had heard the gunshots from he discovered a house. He met a man who gave him food. In a conversation Rainsford revealed himself as a hunter, the man did as well. He told Rainsford that he hunted a new type of animal, one more interesting, one with strategy and reasoning. Rainsford quickly discovered that the animal this man spoke of were humans.
That's not hunting, it's murder!
After further questioning on the matter, the man then proposed a hunt. If he did not find Rainsford by midnight on the 3rd night of this hunt, Rainsford won. If he DID find Rainsford then Rainsford would be turned into food for his hounds. The winner would sleep on the most comfortable bed imaginable.
They'll be fed to the hounds.
After many encounters in the woods, Rainsford outsmarting the man many times he was able to gain access to the man's house. They had a knife fight before Rainsford prevailed.
Rainsford had a very good sleep in the most comfortable bed he had ever slept on.
