  • Good morning class!
  • Simultaneous Equations
  • Good morning Mr. Mance!
  • Today I will teach you simultaneous equations
  • 4x+2y=20 6x-3y=6
  • Always remember to do the same process on both sides!
  • 4x+2y=20 6x-3y=6
  • -4x
  • /2
  • Today you will learn how to solve simultaneous equations...
  • y=20-4x/2
  • Let´s take a look at the following example:
  • 6x-3(20-4x/2)=6 6x-30+6x=6 12x-30=6 12x=36 x=3
  • It´s all quite easy, this part you already know
  • Isolate a variable in one of the equations
  • y=20-4(3)/2 y=20-12/2 y=8/2 y=4
  • Yay!!!
  • Finished!! :)
  • This should be your result
  • Sbstitute the variable into the second equation, expand the brackets and solve for x
  • Now that we know x=3, we simply have to substitute 3 into the first equation
