  • Rene Descartes studied in the university of Poitiers for only 2 years. (1614-1616) Then he moved on to Leiden University. After studying there he moved to Prytanee National Militaire.
  • Descartes was known and famous for being a philosopher, mathematician, and a scientist as well. In math he invented the Cartesian coordinate system.
  • Thanks to Rene Descartes for inventing the Cartesian coordinate system now we use it as a coordinate system that specifies each point in a plane by a pair of numerical coordinates. These also help us see the signed distances from two fixed perpendicular directed lines, measured in the same unit of length.
