The day after John and Yoko got married in 1969, they went to Amsterdam. They talked to reporters about peace to try to stop the Vietnam war, the interviews were on TV all around the world and many wanted the war to end.
On 9 October 1975, Jonh and Yoko's son, Sean, was born. John stopped writing music and stayed at home all day with him. He wanted to be a better father than he was for Julian. John did not write songs for 5 years.
In June 1980, John and his family went sailing to Vermuda. On the trip John saw a flower that inspired him to write his next album "DOUBLE FANTASY". John was exited about music again and he began to write new songs.
We'll never forget you
On 8 December 1980, John and Yoko went to the recording studio in Dakota and a man called David Chapman came up to them with John's new album, and John wrote on it for him. They didn't know what would happen later.
When they came back home, Chapman was in the street near the door. He took out his gun and shot John Lennon four times. Then he sat and waited for the police. He said he could hear voices in his head saying: "Kill someone famous!", so he obeyed them.
Soon, TV across the world told people: "John Lennon is dead". The next sunday in Liverpool, thousands of people stood in the streets. They remembered their city's dead hero, they listened to his songs and some quietly cried. They had photos of John and big messages: "Why?", "We'll never forget you".
