Storyboard Description

I chose "The Raven" as my project story.

Storyboard Text

  • Title
  • Paraphrase
  • Connotation
  • I believe this poem will be about death because ravens and other birds often represent death in literature.
  • Attitude
  • "The Raven" is a poem about a raven terrorizing a man who is grieving his lover's death.
  • Shift
  • The poem's connotation is to move on from the past. The narrator in "The Raven" failed to do this and thus was consumed by his grief.
  • Theme
  • The tone of "The Raven" is very miserable and dreadful. The poet's attitude is probably from his own experiences grieving his lost lover.
  • The shift occurs when the narrator becomes aggravated with the raven and he demands answers from it.
  • The lesson to learn in "The Raven" is to move on from past incidents or else you will end up like the narrator; consumed by grief.
