Storyboard Text

  • Frederick Douglass was a slave since he could basically walk. He was moved to a plantation in Maryland, with a new master named Mr. Covey.
  • Even when Frederick Dougless did his field work, Covey still watched him as if there was something wrong.
  • One day, Frederick worked too hard. He got so tired, that he passed out. The other slaves couldn't really do anything to help.
  • Even though Frederick had gotten up from being passed out, Mr. Covey still didn't care. In response, Mr. Covey whipped him, which caused him to start bleeding.
  • Desperate, Frederick goes to his overseer, Mr. Auld to get help. Unfortunatelty, Mr. Auld was no help and send Frederick back to the plantation.
  • On his way back to the plantation, Frederick ran into another slave, Sandy Jenkins. Frederick told him is problem and Jenkins gave him a root that was supposed to give him good luck.
