Storyboard Text

  • The French and Indian War was fought over the Ohio River Valley. Frances expansion into the Ohio River Valley repeatedly brought conflict with the claims of British colonies, which ended up causing a famous war, the French and Indian war
  • The tide turned in 1757 because William Pitt, the new British leader, saw the colonial conflicts as the key to building a vast British empire. Borrowing heavily to finance the war, he had to find a way to pay everyone back. The only logical thing to do was to raise the taxes. little did he know that nobody would react gently to that.
  • there were ridiculous amounts of taxes that did not make any sense or made the colonists feel better. The Townshend Act imposed a tax on lead, paint, paper and tea. The tea tax remained a means of taxation by the British after the repeal of all others. taxation without representation was the cry heard everywhere
  • with the colonists unhappy, fights breaking out all the time, burining down buildings,  the colonists needed a permanet solution that would change history and give them what they wanted.  On march 5th 1770, the Boston Massacre occured, not really a massacre per say but a riot. only 5 people died, Crispus Attacks, an African American sailor, was one of the most famous to die. none of this wouldve happened if the colonists were getting a say so in parliament.
  • after the boston massacre occured the British parliament repealed all tax but one. the tea act, which withdrew duty on the tea exported to th colonies. British should have thought to repeal all the taxes, but somethig else happened instead. In the middle of the night on December 16th 1773 leader of the sons of liberty dressed up as Native Americans and boarded the dartmouth and dumbed crates of tea into the Boston harbor to protest agaisnt the Tea Act and its provisions for taxation of tea.
  • all of these turn of evvents happened in time and continued to happen as the colonists got more brave and started to speak out and sometimes it had consequences to it but every thing that someone did made the world were in right now.
