Liwei! I just spoke with one of the other immigrants. He said he's been here for nearly 2 months getting processed!
Bojing and Liwei's rice farm in China has failed. They wish to seek a new way of life in America so they can support their families. (Bojing &Liwei=Brothers)
2 months?! What will we do for 2 months?! We need to get jobs to take care of our sons and wives.
Bojing, Liwei, and their families snuck out of the town in the middle of the night, so as not to be caught escaping to the land of Hope.
I will pay you 10 cents per day to help lay down and put spikes in the tracks.
They boarded a ship, and went to steerage. The ship was packed tightly. There was hardly room to sleep, move, and worst of all... ONLY ONE BATHROOM!!!(Insert terrified sceam here.)
At least we are into the country AND have a job, brother. Others will be waiting for this opportunity for months.
Bojing, Liwei and family finally arrive at Angel Island. The process for Asian immigrants to be allowed into the U.S. was difficult and long. It could sometimes take months for a single person to be accepted. Some immigrants wrote poems on the walls of the barracks in pencil or ink.
Mr. BusinessMan needs all the help he can get with building the transcontinental railroad. He 'persuades($)' Angel Island to accept Bojing and Liwei's hearings.
Bojing and Liwei have fun building a railroad in the hot California sun. (Not)
I'm only doing this for the family. >:( (Has serious sunburn)
