Storyboard Text

  • I wish I'd fit in their group and maybe be like them so they would accept me.
  • Hi, you can hang out with me any group this school year?
  • Joyce sees a group that she thinks she can fit into. She wants to be accepted by them and wants to be treated like a high-status group.
  • Joyce approaches the leader of the group, Yasmine, to hopefully fit into her group.
  • She starts to dress like them, talk like them, and act like them.
  • One day, Joyce said her own opinion about a topic in class. Yasmine told her that she was wrong about her opinion and Joyce didn't stand up for herself because she was afraid if Yasmine would be upset at her and blow up at her face.
  • Joyce realized that she was pressured to not stand up for herself because she was intimidated by Yasmine and decided to not hang out with that group anymore.
  • The next day, she went to Yasmine and told her she doesn't want to be in her high-status group anymore and not be treated like one of Yasmine's minions forever. She hopes that people in her group can do the same and not be afraid of the leader.
