Rosaleen is Lily's mother role figure and she isn't very lady like. Rosaleen is daring and strong she stands up for her rights. She is on this journey with Lily as a fugitive for pouring stuff on three white man shoes. But also Rosaleen cares for Lily that she is willing to do almost anything for her.

August is the older sister of May & June. August is a beekeeper and she sells honey with a black mary symbol on it which causes Lily to go to August home. August is a intelligent culture black women.

June is the middle child of the three sisters. Once Lily and Rosaleen arrives June doesn't like Lily because she is white and she gives Lily a very hard time at first. June is a school teacher who has affection for a man named Neil, but she will not marry him because of her pased.
May is the youngest sister and she is a twin of April. April killed her self which caused May to cry when ever she hears something sad about someone or something tragic. Because of this the May created a wall to write all the sad things and put it into the wall.
Zach is a high school football player with big dreams. He dreams of becoming a black lawyer and prove to everyone that he can accomplish these goals. He meets Lily and they begin to have a love connection and he promises her he will come back for her.
