  • The climax is the point at which the conflict is resolved and the story's outcome is clear. "I heard it-a low, dull, quick sound-like the sound a watch makes when wrapped in cotton. It was the beating of the old man's heart."
  • The falling action occurs after the climax has been reached and the conflict has been resolved starts to wrap up the story. "Three policemen came in".
  • Resolution  is the outcome of the conflict. "I screamed". "Enough". 'I admit the deed".
