  • The Loisels live in France together in a small home around the 1900's.

  • Madame Loisel is not very happy with the life that her husband has provided for her. He was doing everything he could to make her happier so he got her an invitation to a very important party.
  • falling action
  • Madame Loisel wanted an evening dress and some expensive jewlery for the party do that she looked more like everyone that was going, so she went to a friend that loaned her a beautiful diamond necklace
  • resolution
  • Madame Loisel looses the necklace at the party and buys a necklace that looks just like it for 3400 francs so that she wouldn't know Loisel lost it. 
  • Madame Loisel and her husband spent over 10 years working to pay off the francs that they spent for the necklace. And now she looks old and exhausted from working all those years.
  • Madame Loisel was taking a break when she came across the woman who she borrowed the necklace from pushing a stroller, still looks young and beautiful. Loisel told her about what she had been doing and she was told that the original necklace was a fake and is only worth about 500 francs. So she wasted 10 years working for a brand new diamond necklace
